• Foothill was presented the “Exemplary School Program” award by the Association of Christian Schools International at its Southern California Conference in Anaheim CA this past November. • Foothill’s 3rd graders have over $650.00 by participating in “Pennies for Patriots,” a local campaign to help make the Glendora War Memorial a reality.
• Over 53,000 visits to FCS’s website occurred from December 2008 to December 2009. Visits included all 50 US states and 52 countries worldwide.
• Every year, Foothill’s 6th graders raise funds to provide Bibles to the persecuted church in Asia and the Muslim world. Sixth grade teacher and project coordinator, Mr. Mehl, says, “It’s evident that our students truly want to put their faith into action.” Proceeds come from various activities, including a bracelet campaign and snack bar sales at school athletic functions.
• Foothill Christian School currently has three alumni students who are now credentialed teachers and working back here at FCS. They are Amy Baltazar, Jennifer Burris and Tifani Tate. There are also 5 additional staff members who also were former students. Their names are Caitlyn Brennan, Sara Bruno, Karla Serna, Lauren Wendel and Anthony Wild.
•There are eleven (11) families who are 2nd and/or 3rd generation families who currently have children attending FCS.
• The FCS Business Directory, under the leadership of FCS dad, David Bauer, has generated gross ad sales of $90,000 over the past five years. The 2009 issue represents 19 communities in Southern California and is the most attractive issue yet!
• In 2009, eight Foothill families, employed with Edison International, have supported Foothill through Edison’s Employee Matching Gift Program. Because Edison doubles these gifts with their match, this literally doubles the contribution each family makes to support the Annual Fund.
• FCS students have raised over $5,000 for Anaka Secondary School in N.Uganda through Schools for Schools. With over 1,000 schools participating, Foothill’s 2nd place position has won the attention of other schools who agree that FCS is truly unique when it comes to compassion and helping those in serious need. • Foothill Christian School was founded in 1964 and began with 64 students.
• The Matsiko Children’s Choir from Uganda performed on November 7th in the Performing Arts Center and Sunday at Foothill Church. Our Foothill families sponsored 38 children at $30/month! This means that this year we have pledged $13,680 to help children around the world!!
• Since 1997, Target Stores have donated over $10,000 to FCS through the Take Charge of Education Program.
• At FCS 62 parents volunteered 63 classroom hours in one week.
• During the 2009 calendar year, Mr. G helped facilitate an ACSI school accreditation in the Cambodian capital city of Phom Phen. Along with Jr. High teacher, Jacob Gaines, he also accompanied a Faith in Action team of students and parents to the Dominican Republic to distribute school uniforms to needy children through the Manny Mota Foundation.
• 6th grade teacher and author, John Mehl, has published two books, Legend of the Wood and The Great Kings of Jerudan.
• Jim Evans is in his 31st year of teaching at Foothill Christian School.
